Asbestos training

What is asbestos training?
Under Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, every employer must ensure that anyone who is — or is liable to be — exposed to asbestos at work, and anyone who supervises them, is given adequate information, instruction and training. There are three broad categories: asbestos awareness; training for non-licensable work (including notifiable non-licensed work, NNLW); and training for licensable work.
Awareness training is not a licence to work with asbestos. It helps people recognise and avoid disturbing asbestos-containing materials — it does not authorise anyone to repair or remove them. Our full guide explains who needs what, how often, and how online and classroom training differ.

- Asbestos awareness — recognise and avoid asbestos.
- Non-licensable (incl. NNLW) — lower-risk work that knowingly disturbs asbestos.
- Licensable — higher-risk work needing an HSE licence.

AsbestosDirectoryUK is a directory and enquiry-matching platform — we do not run, sell, accredit or endorse asbestos training, and a listing here will mean "claimed", not "verified". Linking to UKATA, IATP, RoSPA, CITB or HSE does not imply that they endorse us, that we endorse any provider, or that any provider is accredited by us or by HSE.
Course fees, VAT and the content and quality of any training are the responsibility of the training provider, not AsbestosDirectoryUK. We do not sell courses and are not VAT registered. This page is general information, not legal or professional advice — always verify requirements with HSE and a competent professional.
